My key advice to newbies is to process, process and then process sounds generated by Reason. In side the software and in other sequencers such Logic, Cubase, Cakewalk, etc. The following tutorial may give you a starting place.
Urban Science is an up and coming beats label. The genre of music will include RnB, Funky House, DnB, Dubstep and pretty much anything demanding a strong beat and bassline. This blog has been set up to help newbie artists to learn and get their beats going. Its not a bible (or the best way) but techniques I have used and picked up over the years. Plus info is targeted at solving problems - Agony Aunt for DnB studio issues.

To use Reason or not to use Reason - that is the question?
Propellorhead Reason is a very powerful music production tool in the right hands. However many up and coming producers are not the right hands. I think in many genres and by many producers it is over used and the presets can be heard in every grime record made. The right hands will strive to create unique and original sounds and mixdown with care to ensure that Reason is the talking point of their release. I myself only use reason as a rewire plugin for Cubase. I have refill packets and try avoid preset sounds.
